This was a Solar-charged Rural Project for off-grid and sustainable powering of a rural community in southeast Asia. Majority of the communities have less access to reliable sources of electricity, reducing development and daily life. For that purpose, Naenitio designed a solar power system with a capacity of 10MW supported by a battery storage solution of 20MWh. These included the installation of solar panels on various community facilities, schools, and wellbeing facilities to ensure wide access to clean energy sources. The excess energy is thereafter stored within the battery system, thus ensuring a constant power supply even at night and on days when the sky is overcast. This system produces 35,000 MWh annually. It has had a complete change in the living of the rural population by providing them with a clean and reliable form of energy. In addition to developing living standards in the community, this project was highly valuable in reducing carbon footprints in the area, and also in facilitating environmental stewardship.
Given the remoteness of the site and very specific requirements for such a rural project, materials and technologies were cautiously handpicked not only to help the system survive but to perform well for many years. We aligned ourselves with the efficient suppliers to ensure this initiative was a success.
Naenitio completed the Solar-charged Rural Project in October 2023, where all solar panels and battery systems were installed and operational. This has also achieved both estimated targets of energy generation and carbon savings, providing quality and reliable electricity for the first time to this rural community. Therefore, the community impact brought about by the success of this project includes enabling new economic opportunities, improving education and wellbeing services, and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility. This has gained wide recognition as a replica for rural electrification since it has thus demonstrated how off-grid solar systems can be a sustainable solution for areas that are underserved. Today, the result is a secure and reasonably priced energy supply that has transformed the quality of life for the community. This project is a unique instance of how renewable energy can be utilized in rural development while reducing environmental impact.
