This project was a Commercial Complex Battery Storage Project. The project commenced with the aim of creating a reliable, sustainable energy solution for a large commercial facility in Singapore's central business district. In this project, there was an installation of the 35MW / 70MWh battery storage system that has the capacity of storing energy produced by on-site solar panels and other renewable sources. This ensured that the commercial complex operates on a flat base of energy, reducing the demand load from the national grid and operational costs as a whole. The high-efficiency lithium-ion batteries for this project were designed to provide reliability over the long term, hence being suitable for demanding commercial center applications. The energy that is generated and captured in this system equates to 90,000 MWh per year. As a result, it greatly reduces the overall carbon footprint of the facility and nurtures a more sustainable business model in return.
Materials and technology used for this project were sourced with the view of finding a vastly developed and reliable battery storage system to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and durability possible. We partnered with successful suppliers to provide a solution tailored to the complex needs of a large-scale commercial facility.
The Commercial Complex Battery Storage project was completed in May 2023, and at present, the entire system is operational and integrated into the commercial complex energy management platform. The project has achieved more than just its energy storage and carbon reduction targets; it also gave the client considerable cost savings in energy. From the inception stage, the project was praised by the business community and environmental enthusiasts alike as one that would increase environmental sustainability in commercial operations. The commercial complex is now independent in energy security with reduced reliance on the grid, and carbon emission is reduced hence raising a new bar in energy solutions in commercial facilities. This project is likely to trigger similar projects elsewhere in Singapore and the adjacent region, with a snowball effect accelerating the required incorporation of renewable energy solutions at the commercial level.
